LocatAlert Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 October 2026

LocatAlert ("the app") is a location-based alarm app operated by Acefina LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data we collect

How we use location

The app reads your device location while you use maps and, if you grant background location, while an armed location alarm is watching for arrival or departure. Distance checks run on your device against the places and radii you saved. LocatAlert does not upload a continuous GPS trail to our servers for alarm monitoring. Saved destinations and the shared status events described below are stored separately.

When you search for a place, the app sends your search text to Google Places and, when available, your precise current coordinates to prioritize nearby results. A nearby search area does not make those coordinates approximate. Map display uses Google Maps. Looking up an address or converting coordinates to an address may also send that address or those coordinates to your device platform's geocoding provider.

If you approve a friend or family request, your device can write status such as when it last tracked the request or when the location alarm fired. An arrival time together with the task's destination can reveal that you reached that place to the other participant. This is derived location information, even though it is not a continuous live location feed.

What we never do

Third-party services

The app uses Google Firebase for authentication, database storage, Cloud Functions, push notifications and crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics: the stack trace, app state and device model at a crash or uncaught error, with a random installation ID, never your account or location); Google Sign-In, Maps and Places for sign-in, maps and place search; device platform services for address lookups and notification delivery; and RevenueCat, Apple's App Store and Google Play for purchases and subscription management. These services process the information needed for those features and may collect their own usage and diagnostic data. See Google's privacy policy, Apple's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy for their practices.

This website

locatalert.com counts page views and clicks on its store buttons with Umami, an analytics tool we host ourselves. It records the page, the referring site, your browser, operating system, device type and approximate location. It sets no cookies, and its counts are not linked to your app account.

Data retention and deletion

We store account content to provide the features described above. You can delete your account from You → Delete account inside the app, or see how to request deletion.

Account deletion removes your sign-in account and starts backend cleanup of its profile, saved places and alarms, notification records, shared requests and their messages, friend invitations, invite links and reports you submitted. Cleanup runs separately and may need to retry after a service failure, so it is not necessarily immediate. Reports submitted by other users about your account, and records of content our filter removed, are retained for moderation.

Service providers may retain operational, security or purchase records under their own policies. Deleting your LocatAlert account does not guarantee immediate removal of every record held by those providers. Contact us using the address below for questions about retained data or deletion requests.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/EEA under GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, export or erase your data. Contact us to exercise them.
